Happy new year! Thank you to all those who supported our efforts in 2012.
In 2013, we look forward to helping the best organizations better serve their local communities and help people out of poverty.
Yesterday, Robin Hood announced the next wave of funding for Sandy Relief, including a $200,000 grant to the Family Service League in Long Island, an organization dedicated to supporting its 47,000 clients with social service programs. With Robin Hood’s grant, Family Service League will cover direct relief expenses including food, prescription and medical supplies, lost employment income and utility payments for approximately 350 families. The grant will also provide mental health services for 200 individuals as well as tax/benefit assistance for 450 families.
“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.” ― Nelson Mandela
