129,300 pounds of food from the canceled Concert 4 NYC were donated to City Harvest, a Robin Hood-funded organization that rescues food for New York’s hungry.

“While we are disappointed that last night’s concert was unable to proceed due to dangerous weather conditions, we’re so grateful to have a partner like City Harvest to illustrate the silver lining in last night’s storm clouds. The concert was to be a celebration of New Yorker’s coming together to help their neighbors. This is a great example of just that. We’re pleased that so much good will come from last night’s unfortunate cancellation.”

David Saltzman, Executive Director of Robin Hood

The heat couldn’t stop us.

The rain couldn’t stop us.

The lightning…it stopped us.

As much as we hate poverty, we hate the idea of putting anyone’s safety at risk.

Which was why, due to inclement weather, the Concert 4 NYC presented by Chase was officially cancelled by the City of New York.

At Robin Hood we aren’t quitters.  We’ll never stop fighting poverty. And we’re not about to give up on the Concert 4 NYC.

We are exploring our options and hope to announce to you soon what our next plan will be. So stay tuned. Stay involved. Together we can accomplish anything.

Thanks for coming.  Thanks for caring.  Thanks for understanding.

Carole King was just on the Today Show and mentioned the concert and Robin Hood. Tomorrow is going to be insane!!

As Sunday comes to a close, Jim Samalis, Robin Hood’s Managing Director of Marketing, Communications & Events, visits the Great Lawn with his two kids.

Here they are supervising the stage build. Good work, kids. It is coming along quite nicely!
