Robin Hood 2011 Moments:
#2 - Kicking off the Veterans Initiative

America’s brave men and women in the armed forces joined us at our annual benefit to draw attention to the astounding number of military personnel living in poverty in New York City. The benefit kicked off our Veterans Initiative which aims to address the unique needs of veterans living in poverty.

Every Veterans Day, we honor the men and women who serve in our armed forces. Robin Hood honors these brave Americans with the Veterans Initiative we announced in August – an effort to eliminate street homelessness among veterans within two years. Robin Hood is connecting programs to address all aspects of veterans’ needs.  With housing, medical care, job training and mental health support, New York City can be the first city in America to solve this problem.

Make this Veterans Day meaningful.  Help us end street homelessness among veterans in New York City.

After working with us for our 2009 benefit, the Black Eyed Peas approached Robin Hood to inquire about increasing their involvement. The Concert 4 NYC was born as a result of that conversation. The partnership will continue after the concert’s end through Robin Hood’s commitment to open three Peapod Academies in New York City.
