After a morning meeting with a new Single Stop caseworker, this veteran said it was his first glimmer of hope after two years of searching for help. This October, Robin Hood helped launched 7 new Single Stop sites focused on helping veterans in need. We partnered with the City of New York to fund a new Workforce1 Veterans Center that provides a full slate of employment services for our returning troops.
Mayor Bloomberg, Speaker Christine C. Quinn and Small Business Services Commissioner Robert W. Walsh kicked off the official opening of the City’s new Workforce1 Veterans Career Center in Manhattan.
This morning we are honored host the first national Robin Hood Veterans Summit at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. This all-day event includes voices from business, government, nonprofits and the media working to make veterans’ issues a national priority.
A few of our panelist include: Admiral Mike Mullen, General Stanley McChrystal, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Senator Patty Murray. And we are grateful to have the participation of Jon Stewart, Katie Couric, Gayle King, Willie Geist, Brian Williams, and Tom Brokaw who will all help facilitate the day’s discussions.

Over our 24 year history, Robin Hood has always helped veterans through the hundreds of programs we support. Over the past few years we’ve been disheartened to see an increasing number of veterans – men and women who raised their hands to serve our country — come to the soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and mental health clinics that we fund.
