Poverty in New York City is so pervasive it’s almost inconceivable.

1.8 million people who live in New York City live in poverty. That’s almost one in five people. 1.4 million New Yorkers rely on emergency food to survive, and 38,000 sleep in homeless shelters each night.

For 20 years, Robin Hood has worked tirelessly to change this. We’re the largest private funder of job-training programs, soup kitchens, food pantries, housing programs and charter schools in New York City.

The Concert 4 NYC is our latest effort to engage New Yorkers and inspire a movement to help our neighbors in need.  60,000 people will gather on the Great Lawn of Central Park to help those 1.8 million New Yorkers living in poverty. This Tumblr will feature posts from behind the scenes at the event and will offer a window into who we are, what we do, what it takes to make it all happen and how you can help.

We are Robin Hood. We fight poverty. Won’t you join us?
