After 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, longtime Robin Hood grantee Children’s Health Fund (C.H.F.) took their expertise of comprehensive medical care on the road, deploying mobile medical and mental health units to the communities in need. Thanks in part to a $500,000 emergency grant from Robin Hood’s relief fund, CHF has deployed four mobile medical units in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey to serve the physical and mental health needs of children and adults in the tri-state’s hardest hit areas. The mobile health units make care accessible and available to the people who need it the most and are equipped with commonly used medications that people can’t access due to the storm.
