The Marathon that Wasn’t Lends a Helping Hand
Many of the Robin Hood staff have spent the past few days out in some of the hardest hit areas, assessing the needs of people and organizations impacted by the storm. Yesterday, in the Rockaways, we came across folks handing out ING NYC marathon materials – the fleece ponchos that were to be distributed at the finish area and goodie bags filled with Gatorade, water, snack foods and apples. While we know many of our marathon runners pictured themselves walking around last Sunday wearing those ponchos after finishing the race, we know they find comfort in the fact that these goods are being distributed to those who are in desperate need.
